Working within the Location Analysis Support Team, which uses demographic and competitor information to advise the Food business on store location planning, your responsibilities will include conducting demographic and competitor analysis, and compiling and presenting reports.

  • You will need an interest in customer behaviour and an awareness of competitor brands and the concept of convenience. You’ll also need analytical thinking and research skills, as well as self-discipline. Microsoft Excel and Access, and SPSS experience would also be an advantage.
  • You’ll get to develop skills in project management, research, IT (Excel, databases, GIS mapping software), presenting and time management. You’ll also get to travel within the UK and attend seminars, conferences and training sessions.

Our communications team feel passionately about The Co-operative brand and work across all of our 16 different businesses to develop campaigns across various marketing channels. The placement’s main focus will be devising and implementing a communication campaign which targets students. You will also assist in implementing the broader brand communications plan, writing briefs, dealing with creative and media agencies, and evaluating creative executions. Throughout you will be working to defined brand guidelines, deadlines and agreed budgets.

  • You will need a passion for and an understanding of marketing theory and the marketing and communications industry. You’ll also need excellent organisational and communication skills, the ability to work in a team, an eye for detail and some knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • You’ll gain practical experience of the creative process (from briefing to implementation), and you’ll develop ideas-generation and problem-solving skills. You’ll also get exposure to all The Co-operative Group’s different businesses and a unique opportunity to be involved in the UK’s largest retail rebranding scheme.

In this role you will work on business-wide energy efficiency, recycling and water reduction projects, supporting the Energy Efficiency Manager by co-ordinating programme office based activities. Your role will be to engage and communicate with stakeholders in several business areas, to deliver project objectives to agreed timescales, to produce timely and accurate programme reports, and to capture and monitor project risks, issues and actions. You’ll also be responsible for low-level budget monitoring and creating PowerPoint slides.

  • To succeed in the role you’ll need to have good organisational and communication skills as well as a strong analytical ability, and to be able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team. You’ll also need some knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and an understanding of issues relating to energy and/or environment would be an advantage.
  • Through the placement you will gain a knowledge of energy and environmental policy, technology, projects and goals, and also project management and communication skills. You will additionally develop confidence through being empowered to make your own decisions and work on your own initiative.

As part of the Corporate Communications department, you will be working on initiatives to make our employees feel more engaged with, and committed to, the organisation and it's values. You’ll help plan and manage projects to deliver employee engagement surveys, manage the communications and administrative tasks to support the engagement strategy, develop support materials for managers to improve engagement and produce analysis of the research database and support managers in interpreting the results.

  • You will need excellent attention to detail and be able to consistently deliver work of a high standard. You also need good skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, written and verbal communication, and time management. You should be comfortable with manipulating large amounts of quantitative data accurately and have the analytical skills to interpret data and present it back to varied audiences. Experience of work in a retail environment would also be an advantage.
  • From the placement you will gain a knowledge of the theory and practice of employee engagement in UK retail businesses, and improved project management and communication skills. You’ll also get the experience of working with a range of managers from across The Co-operative Group’s range of businesses.
